Jackie the Cheetah
Way back, when the world was new, there was an ancient
tree with long, winding branches. The tree had no leaves and was out
near the cozy forest. Inside the old crinkly tree lived a cheetah named
Jackie. She lived with a monkey called Shelly. Jackie was very good
at making jokes. She was so funny she could make herself laugh. She
also made every one else laugh so hard they would cry.
One warm summer morning, Jackie and Shelly were playing card games in
the branches. Shelly was just about to win when all of a sudden a messenger
lion named Sam came and said, “I have a message for you. You have
to get some fairy dust for the family reunion cake.” Then he left
without saying another word. Shelly asked Jackie if she could get it.
Jackie said, “yes, I will go right away.” Shelly said, “But
remember, don’t go into the trolls enchanted tower.” “I
won’t,” said Jackie.
Jackie put on her t-shirt, jean shorts and a pair of running shoes.
She brought a paper with her most funniest jokes on it and said, “adios
Shelly”. Jackie was off.
It was dark and rainy. Jackie felt very sad. The grassy planes extended
for miles and miles. She thought the rain would never end.
Then, after a couple hours passed it began to get sunnier outside and
easier to see where she was going. She was getting more excited by the
minute and felt her luck was changing.
As she was traveling along, she suddenly stopped. She could hear the
beautiful sound of music coming from the trees in front of her. She
followed the sound because she loved music and would do anything to
hear it. But when she got through the trees she saw a strange, mysterious
tower. She decided to enter it.
The tower was so high in the sky. Inside it smelt like cotton candy.
The sound of music was coming from one of the rooms. She went up to
the bumpy, big door from which the sound was coming from and opened
it. When she stepped inside, she accidentally stepped straight into
a hole in the ground. She crashed at the bottom and couldn’t reach
the top, even if she tried to climb. The hole was just too deep. She
was scared.
When her eyes finally adjusted to the darkness she could see a big troll
with pink fur, green lips and pimples all over his body. His eyes were
black and he smelt like a dumpster that was 100 years old. He also had
a black beard that seemed to extend the length of his body. She could
see and hear many flies around him which really told her that this was
not a good situation.
Jackie was now really scared! The troll spoke and said, “I am
going to boil you in a pot and then sell you to a friend of mine.”
His voice was very scratchy and low. He locked Jackie in a cage and
brought her back up to the surface from which she came.
Jackie really, really had to think about how she would escape. “Ahaa!”
Jackie thought. I will pull out my paper of funniest jokes and see if
I can get him to listen to them. “Can I tell you some of my funniest
jokes?” Jackie said. “Sure, I don’t see why not. You’re
not going anywhere.” said the troll. “Well, I can’t
tell any jokes unless you let me out of this cage.” said Jackie.
“Oh, why me.” the troll mumbled underneath his breath. But
thought what harm would it do, she doesn’t know where she is and
he could use a good laugh. “Ok, you can come out but only while
your telling me the jokes and then you have to go back in.” said
the troll. Jackie agreed. She said one joke and the troll started laughing
so hard, his gut was about to fall out.
Jackie thought this was the time to make her escape. As the troll was
bent over from laughter, Jackie could see light in the distance and
started running towards it. It turned out that this light was the entrance
from which she came. She was able to escape. Meanwhile the troll was
still bent over from the laughter and could not move to capture her.
And under his breath bellowed, “I’ll get you for this.”
But what Jackie didn’t realize is that the troll could not go
after her because he lived in darkness and could not go out into the
light or he would melt.
Jackie was running and running until she was farther into the forest.
She finally found her way to Amanda’s palace. When she arrived,
Amanda was reading a book. “Sorry to interrupt you Amanda, but
can I have some of your fairy dust?” Jackie asked. “Sure,
any time,” answered Amanda. Amanda got her fairy dust out of a
cabinet door and gave it to Jackie. “Oh, thank you so much. You
can ask me for anything,” Jackie said. “Adios Amanda,”
Jackie said. And Jackie started home with the fairy dust.
When she arrived home, Shelly was waiting for her. “Why did it
take you so long Jackie and why are your shoes so muddy?” said
Shelly. “OK!” shouted Jackie. “ I went into the Trolls
enchanted tower and fell into a hole where there was this ugly troll
who wanted to sell me to his friends. I managed to escape but it was
scary and I am so happy to be home! I should have listened to you.”
said Jackie. “It’s OK, I am just happy you are home and
safe and you told me the truth. But promise me you will listen to me
next time.” said Shelly. “Oh, I will. I learned my lesson.”
said Jackie.
As they were talking, Jackie heard noises outside their tree. She began
to feel frightened again, thinking the troll is still after her. Shelly
said, “I will see who’s out there”. She popped her
head out of the tree and she was relieved that it was Sam. He came by
to get the fairy dust so they could enjoy a nice family reunion cake
with their family and friends. Jackie was very relieved. Shelly and
Jackie lived happily ever after.
