Joyce the Monkey
Once upon a time there was a monkey named Joyce. She lived with a monkey named Dad. They lived in a pretty, small house near the jungle. Joyce was really good at climbing.
One summer night while Joyce and Dad were grilling hamburgers, there was a knock at the door. No one was there, but a note was lying on the ground. It was an invitation to Jonathan’s castle for a party. Dad said, “Whatever you do, don’t go through the Lost Mountains.”
Joyce put on her red shirt and blue jeans. She packed her lunch and said bye-bye Jonathan. Outside it was sunny and warm. The sky was blue. She could hear the river. Joyce felt happy. After walking for two hours the weather changed. It got cold. Joyce stopped to eat lunch. She saw a pretty bird and followed it right up the mountain.
As soon as Joyce got onto the top of the mountain, she stepped in a puddle and got stuck. She could not get her feet out. Then she heard laughing. She turned around and saw a panther laughing at her. He said, “My name is Lala Magala and I am going to keep you as my pet.”
Luckily, Joyce was good at climbing so she started to use her arms to pull herself out of the mud. When she did, the panther got nervous and ran away. Joyce got off the mountain as fast as she could and ran until she was safe.
Finally Joyce was safe. She went to visit the monkeys and then they helped her get home safe. She was glad to be home.
