Wolf Story

By Ethan

There once was a wolf named Ethan who lived with his brother named Calvin. Ethan didn’t look the same as Calvin, Ethan was all black with light green eyes. Calvin was the same but with a white patch between the eyes. They lived in a den made of rock and bamboo. Ethan was so good at howling that he could make the moon itself howl.
One day, Calvin had to go to the warehouse to get some electricians to repair the wires in the rooftop of Calvin and Ethan’s den. Ethan was left home because he was too little. Before Calvin left he said “Whatever you do, don’t eat a magic apple from the magic apple tree in the backyard. If you want an apple, climb the non-magic apple tree.”
After Calvin left, Ethan decided to bake some cookies. While Ethan was taking them out of the oven, he noticed one cookie had a smiley face on it. It reminded him of his mother who had been captured and put in the zoo. It made him feel sad because she used to bake cookies for him. Suddenly, there was a hot breathing on his heels. “Where have I felt that before?”
“Oh,oh! there’s a teenaged leopard behind me!!!” (Ethan could tell he was a teenager by his size.) The leopard started chasing him, he dived towards the magic apple tree.
Just then, something terrible happened! An apple went down his throat and the apple transformed him into an iguana! He was in big trouble because if he didn’t turn back into himself soon, he’d have to eat bugs!! Suddenly when he blinked the leopard let out a bellowing roar.
Then Ethan jerked his reptilian body up, “I can squirt apple juice” he shouted at the leopard. Since cats don’t like water, Ethan figured this would make the leopard back off. He squirted like a living, rabid water pistol and the juice squirted the leopard who roared once more and bounded away. Because the apple juice was magic, it had the effect of making the leopard’s attitude better since teenagers usually have bad attitudes.
Ethan was starting to get hungry. He saw a bug flying by and noticed it was a moth. He thought he might have a big tongue (like frogs do) and luckily he did. He stuck his tongue out, it was very long. The moth got stuck and he put his tongue back in his mouth and swallowed the moth. It was actually quite tasty. Eating bugs wasn’t so bad after all…But eventually he used up all the magic apple juice by squirting it and found himself in the magic apple tree covered in fur with claws stuck in the tree (iguanas climb trees and he had been climbing when he turned back into a wolf.)
When Calvin got home later that day with ten electricians he said “Did you listen to me when I said not to eat a magic apple?”
Ethan knew he didn’t like to lie but he said “Yes, I did.” Calvin thought he must be telling the truth, so he never found out.

The end
